I’ve branched out into supporting local brands and so far the journey has been great. I also did a review on a few Afriderm products which can be found here, so today I would like to share my thoughts with you on the African Extracts Vanishing cream. African Extracts is a skincare company which launched in South Africa 15 years ago, and they are mostly known for incorporating Rooibos in their products as well as other natural ingredients. Their products are paraben and cruelty free which is a big plus, you can read more about the brand here.

Now, I posted this cream on my Instagram stories and a couple of ladies asked what this cream is for and it’s benefits. To answer those questions, a vanishing cream is basically a cream(duh Vee) which doesn’t leave a trace when applied, it is meant to moisturise the skin and also control the production of oil in the skin thus helping in the prevention of blemishes.

The African Extracts Vanishing Cream contains Baobab Fruit  Extract and Salicylic Acid which leaves the skin smooth, clearer and matte. Now I’ve always had oily/combination skin since I can remember and I’ve tried a few vanishing creams from different brands but they always left my skin terribly dry and the oil will still break through as the day progressed. I’m not going to hype this product up but I have to give credit where it’s due.

Firstly the product is insanely affordable, that’s what I like about this brand, this cream is ONLY R22!! The first thing I noticed when using is how moisturising this was, like seriously most vanishing creams aren’t like that. My skin looked semi-matte than matte after use which wasn’t a bad look, and what I picked up throughout the day is that the product managed to control oil production, my skin was less oily as compared to other days. Sadly I can’t comment on whether this can help with blemishes or not as I haven’t been using it for long.

I will do an updated review on Instagram soon, but if you are oily like me, I recommend this stuff. I’m not sure if this would work on more drier skin types, but I think if your skin is normal then this should work as I’ve already mentioned that it is moisturising. African Extracts also has quite exciting ranges to choose from,do check out their website.

That’s it for now, let me know what your fave vanishing creams are and if you whether you would try this. African Extracts products are available at Takealot, Zando, Dischem and Supermarkets.
